Peace on Earth
The second week of Advent focuses on the Candle of Peace. We recall those beloved words in Luke's Christmas story of "peace on earth, goodwill toward men." Tragically, we know that currently there is anything on earth but peace.
My favorite religious Christmas song this year happens to be Casting Crowns', "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day," based upon the beloved Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem turned into a beloved (one of my favorite) Christmas hymn.
Whether you read the poem, sing the classic hymn, or listen to the contemporary Christian version, it will do you good. And maybe kindle a bit more Christmas hope for "peace on earth, goodwill toward men."
